I appreciate that you've left the target of such indignation somewhat open to interpretation, although certain lines would leave fairly little doubt, such as the one concerning "ideals" and "values". As you know, I do not believe anyone of a particular political stripe can hold themselves guiltless, or claim that their struggle for control is sacrosanct.Politics is about control, after all. It would seem to me that because it appears to be so very tightly attached to money and finance here in the States creates part of the problem, but then the other is a pervasive belief that money corrupts without reservation. The phrase "money is the root of all evil" has been repeated missing a few key words: "the love of", as it was originally quoted. And again, I do not believe anyone guiltless, as their attitudes drives different things– spend more on something different, or claim less should be spent on a particular thing. You remember my results re: the five foundations of morality. An easier but geekier way to describe it is when friends of mine that play D&D can't believe that I would have a Lawful Good alignment in real life. (But, but, but, Lawful Good characters are uptight, straight-laced, goody-two shoes with sticks halfway up their intestinal tracts, right? No, they don't have to be.)I come to the following ideas again and again:1. Not everyone is following the same script/playbook/manual to life2. The only person you can ultimately control is you.So unless one focuses primarily on getting one's OWN shit together, don't expect me to be happy with one who is flinging shit at someone else. But this is just an idle rant, right? Well, yes, but the shit still splatters and leaves a stain.

Just an expression of frustration, not directed at anyone in particular.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, and I really do empathize. I really do. Maybe not about having the minority opinion in the family, but about not being understood? Yes, definitely, been there and probably will be for some time to come. This is so much harder, I think, when it is so personal as to be bound by family ties. Friends come and go, but family sticks around in some capacity or another.
