  1. What a lovely neighborhood! The grass is so green already! Do you do the Coffee Can Forest every year? What do you plant?

    Lovely forest!!

This is such a good idea – I think everyone should post one or two photos of their neighborhoods; just a sidewalk, or a street…make it a mandatory addition to everyone's blog.

  4. Doug says:

The coffee cans contain various tress on their way to bonsai cultivation. Mostly they are native trees for this part of the country, maple, crabapple, honey locust, etc. The oldest is around four years, the youngest started last week 😉

  5. Doug says:

I agree, people's neighborhoods are fun. Mine is quiet, mostly, and a bit old fashioned.

  6. What do you mean, "bonsai cultivation?" I thought that was just done on bonsai trees?

  7. Doug says:

Bonsai is style and discipline of care, and not a variety of tree. Some trees are better suited to it than others, of course, but the basic techniques are in pruning, confining and trimming the roots, and aesthetic attention. I don't really know a lot about it yet, but I'm learning.

  8. I had no idea! Wow. Learn something new every day!
